Another highly-rated Italian talent is attracting interest abroad, though he could also find his way back to Italy.

Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Andrea Natali has been linked with a move to Brighton, according to Fabrizio Romano, with the Premier League club joining Napoli and Cagliari in the race for his signature.

Natali, born in January 2008, moved through several academies as a boy before settling at Barcelona's famed La Masia, and joined Bayer Leverkusen from the Catalan club in the summer of 2024.

He is currently out on loan in the Netherlands with Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar, having left Germany on a temporary basis last September to continue his development.

The centre-back is the son of former Serie A defender Cesare Natali, and captained Italy to victory at the 2024 European Under-17 Championship, catching the eye of scouts across the continent in the process.

There is still plenty of development ahead for the 18-year-old, with a senior debut yet to come, but Brighton have shown they are willing to give young talent a platform and playing time, something the two Italian clubs would also be keen to offer.

Serie A insiders note that Italian football is not always seen as the easiest environment for young players looking to progress with regularity, though every path remains open for a player of Natali's profile.

Napoli and Cagliari's interest suggests Natali could yet return to Italian football sooner than expected, even as he continues to build senior experience in the Netherlands this season.

His combination of Barcelona-honed technique and physical attributes has made him one of the most closely-watched young defenders outside Italy's own academies.
