Wilson, 34, is one of a number of options Brentford are assessing as they look to strengthen their attack. An arrival would allow 19-year-old forward Kaye Furo to leave on loan โ a move described as a priority by the club.
Wilson was born in Coventry and came through the Coventry City and Kettering Town academies before breaking into professional football at Coventry, where he also had loan spells at Tamworth and Torquay United.
He earned his big move to Bournemouth in 2014, where he became one of the Championship's most feared strikers and helped the club reach the Premier League, cementing himself as an England regular in the process.
Newcastle United signed him for ยฃ20m in 2020 and he became a fan favourite at St James' Park despite being frequently limited by injury โ most notably a cruciate knee ligament tear in his debut season. He scored 38 league goals across five seasons at the club before joining West Ham on a free in 2024.
His West Ham United season ended in relegation, but Wilson's personal output remained respectable, and he showed at 34 years of agethat he retains the instincts of a top-level centre-forward when fit and available.
He has 13 England caps and is regarded within the game as a reliable finisher โ the kind of experienced option that could add depth and competition to Brentford's attack without a transfer fee.
The deal Brentford are considering would allow them to sign a proven Premier League striker at low cost, freeing resource for other areas of the squad.
