Wilson was born in Coventry and came through the Coventry City and Kettering Town academies before breaking into professional football at Coventry, where he also had loan spells at Tamworth and Torquay United.
He earned his big move to Bournemouth in 2014, where he became one of the Championship's most feared strikers and helped the club reach the Premier League, cementing himself as an England regular in the process.
Newcastle United signed him for £20m in 2020 and he became a fan favourite at St James' Park despite being frequently limited by injury — most notably a cruciate knee ligament tear in his debut season. He scored 38 league goals across five seasons at the club before joining West Ham on a free in 2024.
