The Sweden international has attracted Premier League attention after establishing himself in Dortmund’s squad since initially arriving from Nordsjaelland in February 2025.
His loan spell was made permanent later that year and Svensson enjoyed a productive 2025-26 campaign, making 45 appearances and contributing four goals and two assists.
He has continued to feature regularly this season, with one goal and one assist from his seven appearances so far.
That form has reportedly attracted interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool, with the two Premier League clubs linked with a move during the summer transfer window.
Svensson has seen the reports himself but says they did not develop into anything concrete.
“I saw something about it. But I haven’t heard anything more about it. Of course, it can be fun to read,” the defender said.
The 24-year-old was then asked whether either club had made a serious approach for his services.
“There was nothing concrete and I had not heard anything more than what was in the newspaper. I am happy in Dortmund and look forward to continuing my journey there,” he replied.
Svensson was even more emphatic when asked whether he had been close to leaving Dortmund for either Arsenal or Liverpool.
“No. Not at all. Quite honestly,” he said.
The defender’s contract with Dortmund runs until 2029, leaving the Bundesliga club with plenty of control over his future should further interest arrive.
Arsenal have been linked with strengthening at left-back, while Liverpool also considered options in the position during the summer.
Svensson’s comments nevertheless suggest that he is not currently seeking a move away from Germany.
Having established himself at Dortmund and continued his development with the Swedish national team, the left-back is focused on adding to his role at the Bundesliga club rather than pursuing the Premier League opportunities reported around him.
