Bernardeschi found the net for Bologna and substitute Kulenovic replied for Torino in a matchday-five draw that left both coaches with plenty to work on during the international break.
Palladino, who had asked his players for a reaction, said he got one despite having so little time with them.
“Since I arrived three days ago, I wasn’t expecting a perfect game today because I had little time with the lads. I had asked for a reaction as a team and as a group and I saw a lively team that cares about not staying down there. There are undoubtedly principles to fix but I saw the right reaction and I am satisfied with that.
"For 70 minutes we were in the game, in the second half we got some counter-attacks wrong and we were less lucid. Unfortunately our physical condition dropped: fortunately we now have the break to work on that. The game gave me a lot of indications and I will work on them. I’m sorry we didn’t give our fans the win.”
He was pleased with his back three.
“In the three-man defence and the wing-backs the team has those qualities for playing with this system. For 70 minutes we didn’t concede a shot on target against a good Torino. Today I wasn’t expecting a perfect game but I saw positive things to work on. The more I work with the lads the more I’ll understand if this is the ideal outfit for them. Today everyone was sorry not to have won but I told them that we will restart from here.”
Torino coach Ignazio Abate was asked whether his side should have had a penalty.
“I think it speaks for itself and I don’t need to comment on it.”
Abate was more expansive on the difference between the two halves.
“We conceded little, I don’t remember big chances from Bologna and we also have higher numbers than them. The feeling is that the attitude was not different between the first half and the second, rather the structure of the team changed because we added physicality. Already in Florence when we played with a diamond and the two strikers we were more dangerous up front. In my view the break will help us understand what the best outfit is, even though we don’t have great abundance in some departments and I will have to change from time to time.”
