Kicker reported that sources within Bayern and within the player's own environment both confirm Asp Jensen will not be integrated into Vincent Kompany's first-team plans. His contract runs until June 2028, and Bayern must decide whether to include a buy-back clause in any sale — a question that has not yet been resolved.
Asp Jensen joined Bayern from Danish club FC Midtjylland for €1.2million in 2022 as one of the club's most promising academy acquisitions from Scandinavia. His only Bundesliga appearance came in May 2024 as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.
He has since made progress in loan football — first within Bayern's own setup and then, from last summer, at Grasshoppers.
This season in the Swiss Super League he has made 32 competitive appearances, scoring eight goals and providing five assists, making him the second-highest scorer at the Zürich club. He set up a goal in the recent derby against FC Zürich. His performances have confirmed his quality at this level but have not been sufficient to move him into Bayern's planning.
The Grasshoppers-Bayern cooperation is facilitated by LAFC's ownership of the Swiss club — an agreement that has also seen Nestory Irankunda and Lovro Zvonarek pass through Zürich. Whether Grasshoppers exercise any purchase option on Asp Jensen, or whether another club moves first, will be determined in the coming weeks.
His market value stands at around €2million — a modest figure for a player with Bundesliga ownership pedigree and promising Swiss Super League numbers. At 20, the ceiling is not yet known. The question is whether a new club sees enough in the underlying profile to bet on it.
