Eindhovens Dagblad reports that Bayern Munich's interest in the 25-year-old is confirmed, with the German champions currently the most advanced of the clubs pursuing Dest. PSV would be unable to block a departure if Bayern choose to trigger the clause.
Dest joined PSV on a free transfer from Barcelona last summer, with the Catalan club retaining a sell-on clause of approximately 20 per cent — meaning around €5m of any transfer fee would flow back to the Camp Nou. That structure was accepted by PSV as the price of securing a free acquisition.
The 25-year-old United States international, who has 38 senior caps for his country, made a positive impression in Eindhoven across his debut season. His versatility — capable of operating at right-back, as a wing-back and in attacking wide positions — appeals to Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany, who has already been working to secure the signing of PSV attacking midfielder Ismael Saibari.
A deal for both players from the same club in the same window would be unusual but not unprecedented. Bayern's motivation is clear: they need a right-back capable of competing with the options currently available in the squad, and Dest's release clause makes the financial calculation straightforward.
