UEFA confirmed on 15 September that the Allianz Arena will stage the 2028 final on 27 May, less than two weeks before Euro 2028 opens in the UK and Ireland. It will be the third time the stadium has hosted the showpiece, after 2012 and 2025.
Bild reports that the decision will “certainly also have an impact on transfer policy” at Bayern Munich.
The motivation is easy to understand. Bayern lost the 2012 “Finale Dahoam” to Chelsea on penalties, and in 2025 they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Inter Milan, 4-3 on aggregate, before Paris Saint-Germain beat Inter 5-0 in the final in Munich. The club now want to be playing for the trophy, not just hosting it, on the third attempt.
That puts three names in focus, according to Fussballtransfers.com. The first is Olise, who is 24 and under contract until 2029. A departure looks unlikely, but heading into the final year of that deal would not be advisable financially, so the question is whether Bayern will make big concessions in the ongoing talks over an extension.
The second is Kane. The 33-year-old's contract runs until 2027, and he is said to want the Champions League title so badly that the prospect has become a condition of his decision to extend. Both sides are talking about the length of the deal. Bayern Munich are planning for 2029, while Kane would like to stay until 2030 to have more chances of winning in the Champions League and to play at the World Cup with England.
The third is Wirtz. Bayern pushed hard to sign the playmaker in 2025 before he chose Liverpool, and at 23 he is now under heavy criticism at Anfield and could become available at the end of the season. Bayern have never lost sight of him, but he would be expensive.
The timeline adds urgency to the Kane negotiations in particular. His current contract expires a year before the final, so without a new deal he would no longer be at the club when it is played.
