Abdelkarim arrived at Barcelona's La Masia academy on loan from Egyptian club Al Ahly in January but was unable to make his competitive debut until early March due to a series of administrative and bureaucratic complications.
Under Juvenil A coach Pol Planas, he gradually worked his way into the side and finished the season as one of its most effective players in the closing stretch.
His three goals on Sunday all came from headers, scored between the 16th and 31st minutes, displaying the aerial authority and movement inside the box that first drew Barcelona's attention. After the match he spoke on the club's official channels.
"It's obviously a beautiful feeling. I am happy, and I want even more. I joined the team in the middle of the season. At first the team welcomed me very well. My adaptation was not immediate, but over time I managed to adjust. The team plays with a different style and I had to adapt to reach this level."
Sport reports that Barcelona intend to exercise the purchase option in Abdelkarim's loan agreement, with the fee set at approximately €1.5 million, rising to a potential total of €6.5 million through performance bonuses. He would then move into Barça Atlètic, the club's reserve side, for the 2026-27 season.
Abdelkarim came through the Al Ahly youth system and is described as having a similar profile to Erling Haaland — a powerful, box-dominant centre-forward who wins aerial duels and attacks crosses. He becomes the first Egyptian player to represent a Barcelona side.
