Barcelona director of football Deco has met with Anthony Gordon's representatives in Barcelona as the Catalan club look to secure the Newcastle United forward ahead of the summer window.

Sport has published images of Deco alongside agents from Gordon's representation agency at a meeting in the city. Gordon, 25, is understood to carry a price tag of around €80 million and his representatives are simultaneously in talks with multiple clubs, including Bayern Munich.

Barcelona's interest was first reported by RAC1, which described the England international as a highly attractive option for Hansi Flick's attack.

The Blaugrana see Gordon as a player with many of the same qualities as Raphinha — intense pressing, pace and the ability to operate across the front line — and are exploring the option partly in response to uncertainty over the Brazilian's future, with Saudi interest in Raphinha continuing to grow.

Gordon joined Newcastle United from Everton in 2023 for a fee in excess of €46 million and has since developed into one of the most effective wide forwards in European football. This season he has registered 17 goals and five assists in 46 appearances, with his Champions League form particularly eye-catching — ten goals in twelve matches against some of the continent's top sides.

Barcelona faced Gordon twice in their Champions League knockout meetings with Newcastle this season and came away with a clear impression of his quality.

His primary suitor at this stage remains Atlético de Madrid forward Julián Álvarez for the central striking role, though Atlético have indicated they are not looking to sell. Gordon offers an alternative solution on the left wing.

Newcastle are understood to be willing to listen to offers rather than force anyone to stay, keen to avoid a repeat of the protracted Alexander Isak negotiations that disrupted last summer's window.

Gordon is contracted until 2030, with Newcastle holding an option to extend by a further year.
