According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have decided not to wait until September to address Ferran's contract situation.
The Spain international's current deal expires in 2027, and with the club's pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Julián Álvarez facing significant obstacles — a €500 million release clause and a firm rejection of Real Madrid's own €150 million offer — Barcelona's hierarchy have concluded that retaining a proven forward already in the building represents the more pragmatic priority.
Contact has already been made with Ferran's representatives to discuss extension terms.
Ferran scored 19 goals across all competitions last season, providing a reliable secondary scoring option behind Robert Lewandowski and alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
The Casadó situation, by contrast, has been building for months and is now entering its final stage. The 22-year-old midfielder's playing time collapsed this season — from 2,447 minutes in Hansi Flick's first campaign to 1,397 in his second — as Gavi and Marc Bernal returned from injury and restored a midfield that already contained Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Fermín López.
Barcelona's sporting department and Casadó's agent Jorge Mendes have been working on the exit together. An asking price of approximately €25 million has been set — lower than the figure discussed last summer, reflecting both the club's urgency and the reduced market value that comes with a player who has fallen down the pecking order.
Two concrete offers exist. One comes from an unnamed European club, the other from Saudi Arabia. Both are understood to meet Barcelona's valuation. Casadó's own preference has always been for a loan rather than an outright sale — he has previously said the club would have to "throw him out" — but Mundo Deportivo reports the loan option, while not what Barcelona want, cannot be entirely ruled out given the player's wishes.
The deadline driving all of this is June 30 — the date on which Barcelona's accounts for the 2025-26 financial year close. Completing a Casadó sale before that date allows the proceeds to be booked against this season's figures, a detail that matters significantly given LaLiga's financial fair play constraints.
Flick's stated preference is for two players per position, and with seven midfielders for three central roles, the maths only work if Casadó goes. Everything is pointing toward exactly that outcome — possibly within days.
