The club's sporting department believes the work was completed during the summer and does not currently intend to make further additions unless circumstances change dramatically.
Barcelona were unable to complete a move for Julián Álvarez during the summer despite making an offer for the Atlético Madrid striker. Deco subsequently said the club had attempted to sign the Argentina international but Atlético did not want to sell him.
The failure to land Álvarez has not changed the club's thinking about January.
Instead, Barcelona believe their squad has enough depth across the positions for Flick to work with the players already available. The club completed a substantial summer recruitment programme, including Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Rodri, João Cancelo, Gabriel Jesus and Dominik Livaković.
There is also little appetite within the sporting department for using the winter window simply for the sake of making another signing.
Barcelona's financial situation remains an important factor. The club returned to the 1:1 rule but has limited room to manoeuvre, meaning any significant addition would require further space to be created through departures.
That makes a January pursuit of Álvarez particularly unlikely.
Deco has now described the failed summer operation as something that belongs in the past.
"The story with Julián and Atlético is in the past and we have to look forward," the sporting director said on Thursday.
That position reflects the thinking inside the club: the Argentine was a major target during the summer, but Barcelona ultimately found other solutions and do not currently intend to reopen the operation.
Flick's early-season results have also strengthened the argument for keeping the squad together rather than making an unnecessary mid-season change.
Unless there is a serious injury, an unexpected departure or another major change in circumstances, the expectation at Barcelona is that January will be quiet.
The work, as far as the current sporting plan is concerned, was done in the summer.
