Barcelona are working hard on the transfer market this summer.

The sporting direction led by Deco has committed to significant investment aimed at putting the club back in contention for the Champions League, the trophy that has eluded the squad in recent campaigns.

Reinforcements are planned across every area of the pitch to raise the overall level of the squad.

At the same time, Barcelona are focused on the future, working to ensure their academy talents remain at the club. According to a report from Sport, Barcelona have reached an agreement with Óscar Gistau, the 17-year-old forward from La Masía, to extend his contract.

Gistau's deal had been due to expire next summer, but he has signed an extension running until 2028, with the option of a further year.

The Catalan forward, born in Salou in 2008, is regarded as one of the club's brightest hopes for the attacking positions. He has consistently been among the top scorers at youth level, though this season, when his move up to Barça Atlètic had been expected, he saw limited minutes because of physical problems.

Despite that interrupted campaign, the club has shown faith in the player. The same source reports that Gistau is among the academy graduates called up by Hansi Flick to take part in the first team's pre-season training.

Several other young players from La Masía are also due to undergo medical checks as part of the pre-season group, including Orian Goren, Guille Fernández, Ibrahim Diarra and Ebrima Tunkara, alongside more established names such as Gerard Martín, Roony Bardghji and Marc Bernal.

For Gistau, whose progress over the past year has been disrupted by injury, the invitation represents a chance to make an impression on Flick directly. Barcelona's recent transfer activity has been built around protecting the value of academy graduates, with several young players having extended their contracts in recent seasons as part of a broader strategy to retain control over the club's most promising talents.

How Gistau performs over the coming weeks, and whether he can stay fit through pre-season, will go some way to determining whether his step up to the first-team picture comes sooner rather than later.
