Atalanta are in advanced discussions to sign Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Guido Della Rovere as the Bergamo club begin rebuilding ahead of a season that will involve Conference League football.

Transfer journalist Nicolò Schira reported the club's interest in the 18-year-old Italian, who plays for Bayern Munich's reserve side in Germany's Regionalliga. Della Rovere contributed four goals and ten assists in 24 appearances at that level this season and has been called up to the senior Bayern squad by Vincent Kompany, though a late-season injury prevented his first-team debut.

He joined Bayern from Cremonese in July 2024 for an undisclosed fee and is contracted until June 2027. He is a regular Italy Under-19 international and stands 1.87 metres tall, operating primarily as an attacking midfielder but capable of playing wider.

Atalanta's interest isn't alone. Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has also made inquiries, and the two Italian clubs are likely to compete for his signature in the coming weeks. The Bergamo club's initial plan is to integrate him into their Under-23 setup in Serie C before fast-tracking him to the first team — a pathway they have used successfully with several young acquisitions in recent years.

The broader picture at Atalanta involves significant structural change. Raffaele Palladino's departure as head coach is expected to be confirmed, and Maurizio Sarri is reported to be the leading candidate to take over, with Atalanta having moved ahead of Napoli in the pursuit according to sources in Italy. Charles De Ketelaere and Ederson are also due to depart — the latter to Manchester United for around £53 million — and the club anticipates further exits before pre-season begins.

Della Rovere would represent the opposite end of the transfer spectrum: a low-cost developmental signing with high upside, arriving alongside whatever senior reinforcements Sarri requests once he is formally appointed.
