Valencia are seeking cover at right-back following the expected departure of Thierry Correira and the injury to Dimitri Foulquier, who is not expected to be available until November.
García has been identified as the leading candidate for the position, though his exit from Villa Park required the approval of head coach Unai Emery. That approval has now been granted.
The news is significant because interest from Valencia had been on hold pending that green light. With Unai Emery now having sanctioned a departure, the Mestalla club can begin pursuing the deal in earnest.
Several other clubs have also registered interest. García has drawn attention from LaLiga rivals including Elche, as well as multiple Serie A sides. Valencia, however, are considered the frontrunners, and the player is said to be attracted to the move — partly for footballing reasons, and partly because it would allow him to remain close to his family.
García joined Aston Villa from Levante in January 2025 for a fee of just over £7m and made six Premier League appearances in his debut season. The club retains confidence in his long-term potential and is not ruling out attaching a purchase option to any loan agreement — though the price would be significant.
Formal negotiations between clubs have not yet started, states Tribuna Deportivo, but both Valencia and García's camp are aiming for progress during June. The Mestalla hierarchy regard him as an attractive option to strengthen one of the squad's most pressing needs.
