Aston Villa have reportedly asked Fenerbahçe about Oğuz Aydın after the winger caught their attention during the clubs' Champions League meeting.

According to Turkish journalist Sercan Hamzaoğlu, members of Aston Villa's delegation made enquiries about the 25-year-old's circumstances following the English side's 6-0 victory in Istanbul. The discussions are understood to have concerned the player's transfer cost and availability, rather than a formal bid.

Aydın was one of the few Fenerbahçe players to emerge with credit from the heavy defeat, completing the match and showing determination despite his team's struggles. His performance appears to have prompted Villa to seek further information about a potential move.

The Turkey international can operate on either wing, offering flexibility across the front line. His ability to play on both sides could appeal to Villa as they consider their attacking options ahead of the next transfer window.

Aydın has contributed two goals and three assists this season, according to the figures cited in the original report. He joined Fenerbahçe from Alanyaspor in 2024 and remains under contract until June 2028.

That contract gives the Turkish club a degree of control over his future, meaning any prospective transfer would require negotiations over a fee. His reported market valuation of around €9 million provides an indication of his estimated worth, but it does not establish what Fenerbahçe would demand to sell.

Villa's interest is still at an early stage. There has been no confirmed formal offer, and the reported enquiries do not necessarily mean that the Premier League club will pursue a deal when the transfer window opens.

The timing of the interest follows a memorable European night for Villa, who produced a commanding performance to beat Fenerbahçe 6-0. While the result was damaging for the Turkish side, Aydın's individual display reportedly stood out to visiting officials.

For Fenerbahçe, the immediate priority will be to recover from the defeat and maintain their domestic and European ambitions. But the reports of Villa's enquiries could place Aydın's future under greater scrutiny if interest develops into a concrete approach.

His versatility, international experience and remaining contract make him a player worth monitoring, although any transfer remains speculative until the clubs take the next step.
