Globo Esporte reported that Arsenal have made enquiries to understand the conditions of a potential deal, with United having made similar contact in recent weeks. Atletico Madrid are described as the most advanced suitor, having been tracking Gomes since May and maintaining the closest engagement with Porto's sporting department.
Manchester United, Newcastle United and Chelsea are also in contact.
The 20-year-old emerged as one of Primeira Liga's most dangerous wide players this season, combining directness, technical quality and an ability to operate on either flank. Porto regard him as a top-priority asset and their asking price — reportedly in the region of €60m — reflects that valuation and the competitive interest his performances have attracted.
No agreement is close and several clubs remain at the information-gathering stage. Arsenal's own priority this summer is to sign attacking midfielders and a centre-forward, with the wide position a secondary concern — though the departure of players from the squad's attacking options has created space that may need filling.
Whether the Gunners formalise their interest into a bid, or whether Atlético's head start proves decisive, will become clearer once the transfer window opens on June 15.
