Archie Gray explains how Marbella camp helped revive Tottenham

Archie Gray believes Tottenham’s training camp in Marbella helped bring the squad closer together and sparked their recent improvement in form.

Spurs have recovered from a difficult start to the Premier League season by winning three consecutive matches, against Coventry City, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

The turnaround followed a 1-1 draw at Manchester United, after which head coach Roberto De Zerbi took his squad to Spain for a short training camp.

Gray believes the time spent together away from the usual pressures of the season helped strengthen relationships within the group and improve their performances on the pitch.

“The Marbella trip would have obviously helped and just getting to know each other,” he told SpursPlay.

“Being like almost brothers on the pitch, that's something the gaffer talks about all the time and that is what we're trying to do.”

The midfielder said the growing sense of unity within the squad was becoming increasingly visible during matches, with even the players on the substitutes’ bench playing their part.

“We all get on really well, and you can see that out there on the pitch. Even with the celebration, all the subs are running to the players, and they are little things that mean so much to us.

“That's the most important thing and why we've been improving.”

The three victories have represented a significant change in fortunes for Tottenham, who had struggled to find a win in the league before their recent run.

Gray believes the improvement has come from the team becoming more connected and working harder for one another.

“I think it's a really important time for us. I think we've improved so much over the last couple of weeks.

“We're more of a team, we're more together and yeah, we're just performing better because we're working for each other on the pitch.”

The Marbella trip appears to have provided De Zerbi with an opportunity to build the togetherness he wanted, and Gray’s comments suggest the benefits are now being reflected in Tottenham’s results.
