Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe both deleted all reference to Fulham from their personal social media pages, while Brazilian winger Kevin Santos Lopes de Macedo, known simply as Kevin, posted a cryptic Instagram story reading "no speak, no hear, no see" after being an unused substitute against the Eagles.
Smith Rowe was introduced with 10 minutes to go in that match, while Iwobi started and was replaced by Rodrigo Muniz on 83 minutes. The Nigerian had also started alongside Sander Berge in a 1-0 defeat by Sunderland, a game in which Smith Rowe and Kevin were both late substitutes.
Before that, the pair were given a rare start by Arbeloa in a 3-0 League Cup win over AFC Wimbledon, only to be left out entirely for the opening-day 3-2 home defeat by Chelsea.
With Cesar Palacios operating as Arbeloa's preferred option on the left and Oscar Bobb favoured on the right, minutes have been harder to come by for both Smith Rowe and Kevin, while Josh King has established himself as the club's first-choice number 10 and Iwobi has started every league fixture so far.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Anfield, Arbeloa, who succeeded Marco Silva as head coach this summer, addressed the online activity directly.
"I think you learn more about a group after a defeat than after a win, and they have worked with a very positive attitude this week," he said.
"When you're a player and you aren't playing, you can't be happy. I expect that feeling from my players that aren't playing. I want them to show me they aren't happy in our training sessions. That's the most important thing for me.
"I can see how hard they are working. I feel I have a very good group with a very good attitude."
Fulham remain winless in the league under Arbeloa this term. After facing Liverpool, the Cottagers travel to West Ham United in the third round of the Carabao Cup before hosting Manchester United the following weekend.
Arbeloa, a former Real Madrid and Liverpool defender with 98 Anfield appearances during his playing days, called Saturday's return a special occasion, having previously faced Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola regularly in Spanish football.
