Schade joined Brentford from SC Freiburg in January 2023, initially on a loan deal, before gradually establishing himself as one of the club's most important attacking players.
Last season he contributed eight goals and four assists in 35 league appearances, and he has continued in similar form this term, scoring once in Brentford's opening three matches of the new campaign.
The German winger's contract runs until the summer of 2028, but with talk of an even longer-term commitment already circulating, head coach Keith Andrews said he was not closely tracking any discussions over a potential extension.
"I'm not entirely sure how far those talks have progressed, but from my perspective it's not something I get too involved in when it comes to that kind of negotiation," Andrews told the BBC.
The Irishman was nonetheless entirely clear about his priority when it comes to Schade, who was included in the Premier League's team of the season last term.
"For me, it's just about wanting to keep Kevin at the club," Andrews said.
Brentford have made an encouraging start to the season, taking five points from their opening three matches to sit comfortably in mid-table, and Andrews sees Schade as a central part of that early foundation.
"I think everyone can see how well he has started the season," he said. "He has been very, very focused, has come back in really good form, and I think he's playing his best football, at least since I took over. He's a very important part of the group."
Schade's rise at Brentford has coincided with the club's growing reputation for developing and retaining talented young players, even as they continue to attract interest from bigger clubs across the continent, with the winger having previously been linked with a move to Arsenal earlier this year.
The Bees have built much of their recent recruitment success on identifying underappreciated talent from the German market and turning them into key contributors, a model Schade has come to exemplify since arriving from the Bundesliga.
