AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the club ahead of Sunday's must-win Serie A home fixture against Atalanta.

Allegri has dismissed speculation about a move to the Italy national team and insists his focus is entirely on securing Champions League qualification.

AC Milan sit third in Serie A with three games remaining, three points clear of Roma in fifth. A win against Atalanta would bring them within touching distance of securing a top-four finish for next season.

Allegri faced questions at Milanello on Saturday about his long-term future following reports of tensions with chief executive Giorgio Furlani and persistent links with the vacant Italy head coach role following Gennaro Gattuso's resignation.

He addressed the Italy speculation first.

"This is not a question I have thought about. Right now, Milan is what is most important β€” for the upcoming matches and for next season. I have not thought about anything else because my aim is to stay at Milan for as long as possible."

He then broadened the point into a statement of collective intent.

"We have worked with great attention and commitment for ten months. We must respect all those who make themselves available so that we can perform at our best."

On the Atalanta match specifically, Allegri was direct about what is required.

"Tomorrow is a decisive match because there are only three left. We are focused on tomorrow and then we will think about Genoa and Cagliari. Everyone must have the desire, the belief and the responsibility to get a result. We have worked well this week and we will face Atalanta with our eyes on the three points."

He acknowledged the mental demands of the run-in outweigh the physical ones.

"At this point in the season the physical side matters less β€” the mental aspect matters more."

Allegri is contracted to Milan until the summer of 2027 with an option for a further year. He returned to the club in the summer of 2025 for a second spell after previous stints at Juventus and a sabbatical. Luca Modrić, who signed for Milan last summer, is sidelined for the remainder of the season with injury.

Milan have not won a home league match in four attempts. Atalanta are fighting for seventh place and a potential European berth. Sunday's result will define how comfortable or fraught the final two fixtures become.
