The 24-year-old has made an impressive start to life at Stamford Bridge since joining from Aston Villa during the summer, quickly establishing himself as an important contributor to Chelsea's attacking play.
Rogers found the net on his debut against Fulham on the opening weekend and has since scored against Arsenal, Hull City and Bournemouth. He has also supplied four assists in eight appearances, underlining his ability to contribute both as a scorer and a creator.
Alonso believes those performances reflect the qualities that made Rogers an attractive signing. The Chelsea manager described him as a modern footballer capable of making a difference in several areas of the game.
“No, [his form isn't a surprise] because he is young, he’s fresh, he’s strong and he’s quick – he is a very complete modern football player,” Alonso said after the Bournemouth victory.
Rogers' consistency is particularly noteworthy given the workload he has carried over the past year. He has played more than 70 matches for club and country since the beginning of last season, while his involvement with England at the summer's World Cup meant he had a shortened pre-season before joining Chelsea's preparations.
Despite that demanding schedule, the midfielder has continued to make decisive contributions. His availability has allowed Alonso to rely on him regularly, while his ability to build relationships with teammates has helped him settle quickly into a new environment.
“His availability is also very high and this is very important,” Alonso explained.
“He looks fresh and he is enjoying [his football] because he’s a great guy and is connecting very well with his team-mates, and with everyone.
“He is having a great impact on the team and the club.”
The Chelsea manager's comments suggest Rogers' value extends beyond his individual statistics. His energy, pace and strength give the team options in attacking areas, while his willingness to contribute consistently has made him an increasingly influential figure.
The 5-1 victory over Bournemouth also provided a strong collective performance for Chelsea, with Rogers among the players who helped turn their attacking pressure into goals.
His adaptation has been swift, especially considering the limited time available to prepare following the international tournament. Rather than needing an extended settling-in period, he has already demonstrated an ability to influence matches against a range of Premier League opponents.
For Alonso, maintaining that level of availability will be important as Chelsea navigate a demanding schedule across domestic and European competitions. Rogers' fitness gives the manager greater flexibility, while his early output suggests there is considerable scope for further improvement.
With four goals and four assists already recorded in eight appearances, Rogers has made a compelling start to his Chelsea career. Alonso's praise reflects the belief that the midfielder's combination of athleticism, technical quality and adaptability can continue to make him a central part of the team's plans.
