The Sweden striker scored 14 Premier League goals during his first campaign at Arsenal and was the club's leading scorer in the competition.
Despite summer speculation over his future, Gyokeres says leaving was never seriously considered.
“There was obviously a lot of speculation. But I had a whole pre-season and it felt good. I was fully focused on Arsenal,” he told SVT Sport.
“For me, it was obvious to stay. I really enjoy the club.”
Gyokeres has, however, had a limited role during the opening weeks of the new campaign. He made just two substitute appearances in Arsenal's first five Premier League matches.
The striker accepts he wants more opportunities but is concentrating on what he can control.
“Of course you expect more playing time, but we have an extremely good squad with many good players and we've started well here,” Gyokeres told TV4.
“I just try to focus on what I can control and do my best to get more playing time.”
Gyokeres scored for Sweden against Romania and believes he understands what Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expects from him.
“I obviously need to do better and I'm willing to do that, so there are no problems,” he said.
Gyokeres is under contract with the reigning English champions until 2030.
