Speaking ahead of Valencia's trip to face Sevilla at the Sanchez Pizjuan on Friday, the Valencia head coach addressed the row involving Rodri directly when asked for his reaction.
"Completely unfortunate words, words that don't come from respect towards a colleague in the profession," Corberan said.
"At the moment they happened, Gaya took the initiative to speak with him, and Rodri has made a public apology. We accept it and understand it is the right thing to do, because even though it happened in the context of speaking with a team-mate, we know what we represent.
"He's a very important player, who was even given a standing ovation at Mestalla for winning the World Cup with Spain. We accept the apology because it's the minimum owed after some unfortunate words."
Pressed further on how the comments affected him personally, Corberan pointed to a specific incident from the game in question.
"I don't share them at all. We didn't have a great match, but perhaps the situation where Danjuma is left in front of the goalkeeper and it could have been a penalty and a red card for Rodri — what seems so bad to you might actually work in your favour," he said.
"We weren't at the level the squad is capable of, but there are factors that can influence that. Pride and honour can't come from a Barcelona player's words but from the badge. That's where you have to draw all your anger from — leave the unfortunate words as what they are."
On his own squad's fitness picture, Corberan gave a lengthy update on Harvey Elliott's condition.
"It's difficult to say how Elliott is, because his pre-season has been atypical," the coach said. "But I think he's a game-changing player and he's getting closer to his physical level every day, and I know the fans are going to show him a lot of support."
Corberan also confirmed a string of other injury and fitness issues ahead of the trip to Sevilla, with winger Rioja ruled out entirely because of a heel problem that has worsened to the point where he can no longer run, even after having sections of his boot cut away to relieve pressure. Midfielder Guido has been pushing to be included despite not yet being cleared to play, a request Corberan said he would not grant, while defender De Haas has trained with the squad and will travel after one session back with the group.
Asked whether his own job security weighed on him with pressure mounting, Corberan insisted he was focused only on what he could control.
"I focus on what depends on me, on Valencia having a great match tomorrow, and I'm convinced of that," he said. "In life I never focus on what doesn't depend on me."
