VfB Stuttgart are expecting transfer bids for Deniz Undav after his record-breaking World Cup substitute performances, despite him having just signed a new contract in June.

VfB Stuttgart are braced for a wave of offers for their World Cup players this summer β€” and none more so than for Undav, whose performances as Germany's super-substitute have made him the tournament's most talked-about forward.

Undav extended his contract with Stuttgart as recently as June 1, signing until 2029 with an option for a further season. But Kicker reports the club are anticipating bids for the striker regardless, with the scale and timing of offers likely to be shaped by how deep Germany go in the tournament.

The 29-year-old has delivered five goal contributions from just fifty-six minutes on the pitch across Germany's first two group games — one goal and two assists as a substitute in the 7-1 win over Curaçao, then a match-winning brace off the bench to beat Ivory Coast 2-1 and secure Germany's place in the knockout rounds.

It is the highest scoring record ever by a substitute at a World Cup, breaking a mark set by Cameroon's Roger Milla in 1990.

Undav was the second-highest scorer in the Bundesliga last season with nineteen goals β€” none from the penalty spot β€” across twenty-nine appearances for Stuttgart.

Stuttgart will face similar scrutiny over other World Cup representatives, including Germany midfielders Angelo Stiller and Jamie Leweling, Bosnia forward Ermedin Demirovic and Morocco midfielder Bilal El Khannouss.
