Christos Tzolis has credited Cristhian Mosquera with helping him settle at Arsenal, with the Greek winger now back fit after a hamstring injury.

The summer signing has made an encouraging start to life in north London following his £34 million move from Club Brugge, and has singled out the young defender as the first team-mate to make him feel at home.

Tzolis arrived in England looking to establish himself in the Premier League after previously spending three years at Norwich City. He believes the support he received from the Arsenal dressing room helped him adapt quickly, with Mosquera making a particularly strong impression during pre-season.

“There are a lot of guys that really try to speak, to help me from the beginning,” he said.

“I think [Cristhian] Mosquera was the first one. We started to talk, it was in the pre-season. He's close to my age as well, so I can say Mosquera.”

The connection was helped by the fact that the two players are close in age, giving Tzolis someone with whom he could build an early relationship as he settled into a new club and city.

The winger's progress was interrupted by a hamstring injury that kept him out of six matches. After spending around a month away from the team, however, he says his rehabilitation has gone well and he is ready to contribute again.

“I'm feeling good,” Tzolis said.

“Before, I was one month away from the team; I was injured, but now I'm feeling good again. I had a good rehab, and I feel fit and strong again to help my team.”

The Greek international has yet to score for Arsenal, but is determined to make the most of the opportunities he receives as he works to establish himself under Mikel Arteta.

His approach, he explained, is to give everything when selected while accepting that the final decisions belong to the manager.

“I always try to give everything to win, and the coach is the one who makes the decisions. I was happy that I had the chance to play and I will always perform.”

Tzolis returned to the English top flight after his move from Club Brugge, where his performances had earned him a significant transfer to Arsenal. The club brought him in to add another option on the left, providing competition alongside their existing wide attackers.

His recovery now gives Arteta another attacking option, while the relationships built during pre-season have helped make the transition to a new league and dressing room easier.

For Tzolis, the next step is to turn that encouraging start into a consistent contribution on the pitch. With his fitness restored, he is focused on repaying the faith shown in him and making an impact whenever he is selected.
