Tottenham are continuing to intensify their focus on the Brazilian market, with scouts recently spotted watching Cruzeiro as the club maintains its strategy of targeting South America for emerging talent.

Spurs have increasingly turned to Brazil in recent transfer windows, a move driven by the country’s reputation for producing technically gifted players who are often available at relatively accessible fees and open to a move to Europe.

That approach remains particularly relevant given Spurs’ current uncertainty in the league, with concerns still lingering over their position and the possibility of relegation influencing long-term planning. Even so, Brazil remains viewed internally as a strong recruitment avenue regardless of circumstance.

The club have already explored deals in the region, including recent work on a move for former Santos left-back Souza, underlining a clear strategy of strengthening key positions through the Brazilian market.

According to Central da Toca, Tottenham scouts were present at the Mineirão for Cruzeiro’s 2-0 win over Grêmio, although the specific player they were monitoring has not been confirmed.

The match itself saw goals from Lucas Romero and Christian, both of whom impressed in a controlled Cruzeiro performance, though neither is believed to be a primary Spurs target.

Attention instead appears to be focused on Cruzeiro left-back Kaiki, who is increasingly viewed as the club’s standout candidate for a potential European move.

The 23-year-old was previously close to joining Como in a deal worth around €12.5m (£10.8m) before Cruzeiro opted to halt the transfer.

Kaiki’s profile fits Tottenham’s recruitment model, offering pace, physical strength and attacking output from left-back, alongside growing recognition at international level following a recent Brazil call-up under Carlo Ancelotti.

A move could also depend on squad developments in north London, particularly regarding Destiny Udogie’s long-term future or potential loan plans involving Souza.

With interest building, Kaiki is now emerging as one of the more realistic Brazilian options for Spurs heading into the summer window.
