Thiago Silva has left FC Porto following the club's Primeira Liga title win, with the veteran Brazilian centre-back delivering an emotional farewell after 14 competitive appearances this spring.

Silva, 41, joined Porto on a short-term deal in December after breaking his two-year contract with Fluminense, having returned to his boyhood club in Brazil following his Chelsea exit in the summer of 2024.

The move to Porto came with an option for a further year, but the club's official website confirmed he would not be staying.

Addressing supporters through the club's channels, Silva spoke about what the league title — the club's 31st — meant to him personally.

"I left my image on the wall and this will go down in history as one of the most important titles of my career. It's not goodbye, it's see you later."

He also spoke with characteristic warmth about his teammates and the emotional texture of the campaign.

"The last few months have shown me that it was worth everything. It was incredible, an enormous pleasure. I experienced moments of great happiness. Victories, defeats, tension, nervousness, anxiety about whether we would win the title — especially after the loss to Casa Pia. Those were difficult situations, but the group remained always very strong and united and deserves everything good. The team deserves much more than what was experienced this year."

Silva spent four seasons at Chelsea between 2020 and 2024, winning the Champions League in 2021, before the move to Fluminense and subsequently Porto. He leaves the Estádio do Dragão having contributed to their title triumph.

His international career ended at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where Brazil were eliminated in the quarter-finals. He was not selected for the 2026 squad by head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
