John Terry has confirmed he has not received any contact about being involved in Calum McFarlane's interim coaching setup at Chelsea following Liam Rosenior's sacking.

The Chelsea legend, who holds a part-time consultancy role within the club's academy, revealed the news on TikTok shortly after McFarlane was confirmed as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

"I am not sure what Calum's backroom staff is going to look like. I have not had a call, I have not had a message," Terry said.

"I will be continuing my role in the academy, I will be in the academy tomorrow. We will all get behind Calum โ€” he did a great job away against Man City previously โ€” and we will get behind the boys because that is what we do."

Terry acknowledged in February that he had been frustrated to be overlooked when McFarlane took temporary charge for the first time in January following Enzo Maresca's departure on New Year's Day, having worked alongside McFarlane with Chelsea's Under-21 and Under-18 sides.

McFarlane, 40, oversaw a 1-1 draw with Manchester City during his first interim spell before stepping back to become part of Rosenior's staff.

He now steps up again with Chelsea facing Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday, followed by a Premier League run-in in which they need results to keep their European hopes alive.
