Former Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Strunz believes the Bundesliga title race is already close to decided.

The ex Germany international, who won five league titles with Bayern during the 1990s, says the champions remain in a league of their own.

"I do not see a real competitor for Bayern Munich," Strunz told Football Presse.

"If Bayern show normal form, then they will be German champions again."

Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig may try to challenge, but Strunz says the financial gap is decisive.

"The economic superiority of Bayern is too great. With players like Harry Kane, Michael Olise and now Diaz from Liverpool, the difference to the rest is enormous."

He compared Germany to Spain and England, where multiple clubs can realistically dream of the title.

"In Spain you have Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico at a similar financial level. In England there are several clubs with huge money."

"In Germany it is different. Only Bayern can really say we want to be champions."

Still, he issued one warning.

"We know what happens if injuries come. What if Harry Kane is out for a long time? Musiala is already out."

But ultimately, the verdict is clear.

"From my point of view, Bayern can only beat themselves."
