Strahinja Pavlović has extended his AC Milan contract until June 2031, saying he is proud to represent the club and wants to keep improving as a player.

AC Milan confirmed the Serbia international’s new deal on Wednesday, adding an option for a further extension. The centre-back joined from Red Bull Salzburg in July 2024 and has since made 80 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring seven goals.

“I can say that I am really proud and happy, and I want to thank the manager and the whole management from the bottom of my heart,” Pavlović said. “I am happy to be here and hope things continue to get better in the future, so that I can play many good matches in this shirt.”

The 24-year-old also spoke about the responsibility of playing for one of Europe’s most decorated clubs, explaining that the history surrounding Milan’s training ground provides a daily reminder of what the shirt represents.

“We are fortunate to have all these photographs and all this history at Milanello, which can always remind us which club we are playing for,” he said. “I have always said that playing for Milan is a great responsibility, but also a tremendous honour. I try to approach it that way and improve every day, just like all the great champions who have worn this shirt.”

Pavlović said he had developed both personally and professionally since arriving in Italy, but believes there is more to come. The defender also acknowledged the different demands that come with representing Milan compared with his previous experience in Austria.

“I have changed a lot. This is my third season here, and I can say that I have grown a lot as a player. It is a different feeling when you play for a club like Milan. There is a different kind of pressure; it is a big club with different objectives,” he said.

“For me, the perfect year here would be one in which we win trophies. That is the biggest dream a Milan player can have.”

Pavlović also addressed questions about Milan’s defensive system, insisting that the squad can adapt whether the team plays with three or four defenders.

“We are professionals. We have played with both systems in the past, and the important thing is to have clear instructions about what we have to do,” he said. “When you have clear instructions, it does not matter whether you play with three or four at the back.”

The new contract underlines Milan’s confidence in Pavlović as they look to build for the coming seasons. For the defender, the ambition is clear: continue developing, honour the club’s history and help deliver trophies to the supporters.
