The Times reports that Fulham made an approach for Slot this week in their search to replace Marco Silva, who is expected to join Benfica as head coach. Slot showed no interest in Craven Cottage and is not considered a realistic candidate for the west London role.
Slot, 47, was sacked last Saturday after Liverpool's end-of-season review concluded that his second Anfield campaign โ in which the club lost 20 matches across all competitions and finished fifth in the Premier League โ was not good enough to justify continuation, despite having won the title in his debut season. His successor Andoni Iraola has already been confirmed on a two-year deal.
Slot's most likely next move is understood to be the Netherlands national team job, which will become available after the World Cup when current head coach Ronald Koeman's contract expires. His profile in Dutch football, combined with the familiarity his work has given him with several players in the Oranje squad, makes him a natural candidate.
Fulham are also understood to be pursuing Kieran McKenna, the Ipswich Town manager who guided the Suffolk club to second place in the Championship to secure promotion back to the Premier League. A compensation fee of around ยฃ8m would be required to release McKenna from his Portman Road contract.
