Technical director Youri Mulder, himself Dutch, is keen to bring a compatriot to Gelsenkirchen, and according to Boualin, Musaba is open to the temporary move to Schalke.
Musaba, from Beuningen in the Netherlands, has been at Fenerbahce since the start of this year and is under contract with the Turkish club until the summer of 2030. Transfermarkt values the former Netherlands youth international at โฌ7m. Schalke have already made contact with Musaba's camp, and the next step falls to Mulder, who must now approach Fenerbahce directly to propose a loan structure for the winger.
Since his arrival in January, Musaba has made 23 official appearances for Fenerbahce, scoring twice and providing six assists. Speaking to Voetbalzone in March, the ambitious forward outlined clear ambitions for his career.
"I want to play as many matches as possible and win trophies. Whatever comes, comes," he said at the time.
He also spoke about his hopes of one day representing the Netherlands at senior level.
"For a boy who was born and raised in the Netherlands and played for Jong Oranje, that remains a dream, of course. Who knows, maybe I can still play at a major tournament one day. That would be fantastic," Musaba said.
A move to Schalke would give him regular Bundesliga football and a higher profile in German football, potentially strengthening his case for international recognition should his form continue to catch the eye of Dutch national team selectors.
Schalke's pursuit fits into their wider strategy of using Mulder's network to identify Dutch talent who might suit a return to Germany's top flight following the club's promotion.
A loan structure would allow Fenerbahce to retain long-term control of Musaba's registration while giving the winger the regular playing time he is seeking, a solution that could suit all parties if Mulder is able to negotiate acceptable terms with his Turkish counterparts in the coming weeks.
