The win, secured through goals from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Pedro Rodríguez — the latter in his final appearance for the club before departing as a free agent — ended a difficult campaign on a positive note, but did little to resolve the fundamental tensions between Sarri and club president Claudio Lotito that had simmered throughout the year.
Speaking to DAZN after the final whistle: "I have two more years on my contract so it seems premature to make declarations of that type. In the next few days there will be things to discuss.
"I am not happy with many things, but from there to not having a contract is a long way. We will see in the next few days and the next week whether we can go forward or another decision will be taken."
When asked what it would take to convince him to continue, his answer was blunt.
"I would like to be listened to more."
He elaborated on what he felt had been missing: "There was dialogue on things of little importance and no dialogue on things that mattered. Decisions were made that I did not share and I was given no explanations, so it is difficult for me to even understand why they were made."
Sarri also looked back at Pedro's contribution with obvious warmth.
"With Pedro, I spoke almost every week and he decided whether to start or come on for the last 20 minutes based on how he felt. He is an extraordinary person who at his age manages to keep the enthusiasm of a child seeing a ball roll. He is a phenomenon of enthusiasm, in love with this sport, and that has kept him competitive at this age."
To the Lazio supporters he offered an unconditional message: "I thank them always, regardless, because they have shown me unconditional love. They are in my heart and they will remain there."
Sarri is expected to reach a contract termination agreement with the club before taking over elsewhere. Atalanta and Napoli have both been named as potential destinations.
