Manchester City have appealed against the findings, while potential sanctions remain unresolved. The case has attracted widespread attention because of the possible consequences for the club’s finances, sporting record and standing in English football.
Nasri, who played for City between 2011 and 2017 and won two Premier League titles during his time at the Etihad Stadium, said he had contacted the club’s president to offer his support.
Speaking on Canal+ on Tuesday, the former France international dismissed suggestions that he was worried about the outcome.
“Worried? No. I sent a message to the president to show my support. They seem pretty confident. They know what they are accused of, and they are quite confident,” Nasri said.
The former midfielder also responded to criticism from other ex-players, some of whom have publicly discussed the possibility of City losing titles if sanctions are imposed.
Nasri maintained that whatever happens through the disciplinary process would not change his own view of the team’s achievements.
“I have seen former players giving their opinions here and there. Fine, but on the pitch, we won the titles. They can take them away from us; we know that we won them,” he said.
The commission’s findings relate to alleged financial misconduct across nine seasons, including issues involving commercial revenue, financial reporting and compliance with spending regulations. City have consistently contested the allegations and have challenged the latest decision.
The club’s appeal means the case remains ongoing, with the eventual sporting and financial consequences still uncertain.
Nasri’s comments underline the loyalty he retains towards the club where he enjoyed some of the most successful years of his playing career. His position is that the results achieved by City’s players remain part of their sporting history, regardless of the eventual outcome of the proceedings.
The former France international’s intervention comes as City await the next stage of a case that could have significant implications for the Premier League champions’ legacy.
