Mohamed Salah has given his initial approval to pursuing a move to the Saudi Pro League โ€” but has set out three conditions he considers essential before any deal can be completed.

Salah departed Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season after nine years at Anfield, having scored 257 goals in 442 appearances across all competitions. Liverpool allowed the Egypt captain to leave before his contract expired, announcing the mutual termination in March.

According to a report by Marib Press, Salah received an offer from a Saudi club that fell short of the financial package he had been offered before signing his final Liverpool extension in April 2025.

His first condition is a salary and financial package in line with his standing and commercial value. The Egypt international was earning around ยฃ400,000 per week at Liverpool. Previous Saudi approaches โ€” most prominently from Al-Ittihad, which tabled a contract reportedly worth ยฃ1.67 million a week โ€” established a high baseline for any incoming offer.

His second condition is contract length. Salah is understood to want a deal of two or three seasons to ensure stability at the next stage of his career rather than a short-term arrangement.

His third is competitive ambition. He wants to join a club capable of challenging for major honours, not one offering a comfortable send-off.

The 33-year-old scored 12 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions in his final Liverpool season โ€” a return that fell below his historic standards and contributed to the mutual decision to part ways. He won the PFA Player of the Year award the previous season.

A final decision on his future is not expected until after the World Cup, in which Salah will represent Egypt. European options, including reported interest from Juventus and Fenerbahce, have not been entirely ruled out, though a move to Saudi Arabia is widely regarded as the most likely outcome.

The Saudi Pro League has its price. Salah has made clear he knows his worth.
