Marco Rose has agreed terms with Bournemouth and will take charge at the Vitality Stadium this summer, succeeding Andoni Iraola as the club's head coach.

Sky Sports reported that a deal has been reached and both parties are now able to plan for the 2026-27 season, with paperwork and work visa formalities still to be completed before a formal announcement is made.

Iraola confirmed on Tuesday that he would leave when his contract expires at the end of the season, ending a three-year reign that delivered a club-record points tally last season. Bournemouth moved quickly to identify a successor, with Rose the frontrunner from the outset. Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna and Rayo Vallecano's Iñigo Pérez were also considered.

Rose, 49, has been without a club since being sacked by RB Leipzig in March 2025. His CV includes spells at Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Red Bull Salzburg, where he developed a reputation for high-energy, attacking football with strong tactical structure. He also had a previous connection with the Bournemouth vacancy when Tottenham Hotspur considered him following the sacking of Thomas Frank earlier in the season before ultimately choosing Igor Tudor.

Iraola acknowledged the appointment process in his own comments to BBC Sport, stopping short of endorsing any individual but noting he had "some information" about names under consideration. "Whoever they decide, whenever they decide to sign the new manager, you can ask me about whoever comes and I will try to give my opinion," he said.

Bournemouth currently sit in contention for European football, which would represent a historic first for the club. Rose inherits a squad built under Iraola's meticulous methods and will look to maintain the south coast club's upward trajectory.
