AS Roma are open to selling Matias Soule this summer if the right offer arrives, with Aston Villa and Bournemouth the two Premier League clubs to have registered concrete interest in the 23-year-old Argentine winger.

AS Roma signed Soule from Juventus for around โ‚ฌ30 million in the summer of 2024, and he has been a consistent performer in Gian Piero Gasperini's system since.

A groin injury disrupted the second half of his season and his form has dipped since returning, which has opened the door to a possible departure.

Financial Fair Play pressures are the key driver. Roma need to register capital gains before the end of June and Soule, who sits at โ‚ฌ15 million on the club's books, represents a clean profit on any fee above that figure.

Sporting director Ricky Massara has not yet made a final decision on the player but has not closed the door, reports Il Messaggero.

Aston Villa have tracked Soule for two consecutive summers, having previously attempted to include him in the Douglas Luiz deal with Juventus in 2024 before he joined Roma instead. Their interest is long-standing and serious, and Villa Park would likely represent a more attractive destination than Bournemouth for the player given their Champions League ambitions next season.

VfB Stuttgart are also said to be monitoring the situation, adding a German option to the mix.

With the World Cup falling across the key negotiating period, Roma will not be rushed into a below-value deal. But if their FFP position forces movement before 30 June, Soule could be one of the first dominoes to fall.

Gasperini's likely return as head coach for next season is considered near-certain, which adds some stability โ€” though it does not resolve the club's financial arithmetic.
