Roma recorded a convincing 3-0 victory over Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico, with Mario Hermoso, an own goal from Sebastian Walukiewicz and Rodrigo Mora scoring as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side secured a third consecutive league win.

Hermoso opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Walukiewicz turned the ball into his own net three minutes later. Mora added the third shortly after the restart, leaving Sassuolo with no way back and extending their losing run to five matches. The home side controlled proceedings.

Gasperini was pleased with the performance and believes his team are giving supporters a side they can identify with.

“There is always room for improvement, as there is with everything. We are trying to remove a few weaknesses, although tonight there were not many. Perhaps we missed too many chances,” the AS Roma coach said.

“We have to be satisfied with the football this team is playing. It gives its supporters satisfaction, and that is an objective for us beyond the results. The fans recognise themselves in this team.”

Gasperini also highlighted injuries in attack.

“I am concerned about getting our players back because it is clear that we are not very well covered in the forward positions,” he said. “In January we will do what is possible, but we have not discussed it yet.”

Sassuolo coach Alberto Aquilani felt his side had been comprehensively outplayed.

“For me, today there was no contest, perhaps only in the first half-hour,” he said. “From the first match, negative results have followed because of incidents. Today the players’ heads are heavy, and I see them making mistakes that are incredibly simple. Their minds are preventing them from doing anything.”

Aquilani refused to single out individuals, insisting the responsibility rested with the team as a whole.

“I have good young players who still have a lot to prove. They are young, they have time and ability, but they need to show it,” he said. “It is not important to focus on individuals now.”

The Sassuolo coach also questioned his team's physical condition and ability to respond under pressure.

“I see a team struggling after two or three sprints. Before, there was more lightness, and we were more willing to take risks. We are missing that now, and with the ball we manage to do very little,” he said.

Aquilani welcomed the international break but warned that significant improvement was needed. “There are many things to correct. I am not hiding from that. What we are doing is not enough.”
