Mora moved to the Italian club during the summer and is continuing his adaptation to a new league and environment. The 19-year-old has already made ten appearances for Roma, scoring twice and providing one assist, while also remaining an important figure for Portugal's Under-21 side.
He was the team's leading scorer during qualification for the 2027 European Under-21 Championship, finishing with five goals. His international performances have reinforced the potential that persuaded Roma to invest in him, although Freire believes the next stage of his development requires patience rather than immediate pressure.
Speaking to Portuguese news agency Lusa, the coach discussed Mora alongside Chelsea youngster Geovany Quenda, another player born in 2007 whose club has made a significant commitment to his future.
"The investment in these two players, especially considering the financial value of the deals, shows that the clubs believe a great deal in them," Freire said.
The Portugal coach also stressed that both players remain motivated to represent their country, including when they are not selected for the senior national team.
"For my part, I am calm, because they are always motivated and ready to help Portugal. They want to come when they are not called up to the senior national team," he explained.
Freire's comments underline the importance of maintaining a pathway for young players who are already attracting attention at senior club level but still have plenty of development ahead of them.
Mora has had to adjust to the demands of Italian football after leaving Porto, where he developed through the youth ranks and established himself as one of Portugal's most highly regarded young talents. Roma's decision to bring him to Serie A represents a significant investment in that potential, but Freire is keen to avoid placing unrealistic expectations on him.
"We have a lot of affection for them and we are cheering for them to succeed, but we have to give it time," he added. "We are here in the Under-21 team to stimulate them both and give them space."
For Mora, that support provides an important source of encouragement as he works towards a regular role in Rome. Freire's message is clear: the investment made by AS Roma reflects confidence in the midfielder, but his progress should be judged over time rather than by immediate returns.
