The former Bayern Munich striker discussed the French international in an interview with The Athletic, highlighting the qualities that make him so influential in the final third.
“Olise, for me, is like: ‘Wow.’ He’s the game-changer player. I’m impressed that Olise is this kind of player. He has a huge future,” Lewandowski said.
The Poland international, now playing for Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer, also pointed to the attacking partnership Olise has developed with Harry Kane and Luis Díaz. He believes their different qualities complement one another and give Bayern a formidable forward line.
“Kane to Bayern in his prime and what he’s doing is amazing, the number of goals he’s scoring, and especially that Bayern missed this kind of striker after I left. And with him, they’re doing a really good job,” Lewandowski said.
He added that the cooperation between Kane, Olise and Díaz was “a perfect match”.
Olise’s influence extends beyond his goal and assist contributions. Lewandowski was particularly impressed by the winger’s ability to judge when to shoot, when to pass and how to deliver the right ball for a teammate.
“His decisions are perfect. He knows timing, he knows when he should shoot to score, when to make the pass and what kind of pass to make,” he said.
The striker also discussed Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, whose performances have attracted widespread attention. While Lewandowski supports Yamal’s ambitions for individual honours, he believes Olise deserves similar recognition for his quality.
“Everyone is talking about Lamine Yamal, but I try sometimes to watch other players and see things that not everyone sees yet,” he said.
Olise has continued to establish himself as one of Bayern’s most productive attacking players since arriving from Crystal Palace in 2024. His creativity, close control and ability to influence decisive moments have made him an important part of the Munich side.
Lewandowski knows what Bayern require from an elite attacker, having scored prolifically during his own spell at the club. His praise highlights the impression Olise is making beyond Germany, with the winger’s decision-making earning particular recognition from one of Europe’s most accomplished former forwards.
