Real Madrid are preparing to bring Jacobo Ramón back from Como by activating a buy-back clause, according to transfer journalist Matteo Moretto.

The 21-year-old defender joined the Italian club in 2025 after the two sides agreed a deal that saw Como pay an initial €2.5 million for 50 per cent of his economic rights. Real Madrid retained the remaining share and included staggered buy-back options in the agreement, with clauses covering 2027 and 2028.

Moretto reports that Madrid intend to exercise the option for a fee below the €9 million figure initially associated with the arrangement. The clubs could also reach a new agreement over the other half of Ramón’s rights, potentially giving Madrid full control of the player.

Ramón has made a strong impression under Cesc Fàbregas, becoming a regular at the heart of Como’s defence. His consistency has attracted attention from clubs in the Premier League, increasing Madrid’s determination to secure his future before his value rises further.

The defender’s development has also brought wider recognition in Spain. After scoring twice in a week against Manchester United and Torino, he has been discussed as a possible candidate for promotion to the senior national team. He has represented Spain at under-21 level and is regarded as one of the promising young centre-backs to emerge from Madrid’s academy.

The reported buy-back would not necessarily mean Ramón immediately becomes a first-team regular at the Bernabéu. Madrid could bring him back and assess his place in the squad, or use the deal to strengthen their negotiating position if interest from England develops into concrete offers.

His market value has risen considerably since leaving Spain, with Transfermarkt estimating it at €45 million. If Madrid complete the move for less than €9 million, they would regain a defender whose value has increased sharply during his time in Serie A.

The situation is not yet an officially confirmed transfer. For now, the reported plan is for Madrid to activate the clause in 2027, with Ramón’s eventual role at the club to be decided later.
