Quansah, 23, came through Liverpool’s academy and broke into the first team during the 2023-24 season. His stay on Merseyside ultimately lasted only two years before he moved to Germany in the summer of 2025.
Bayer Leverkusen paid around €35 million for the England international, who has since established himself as an important member of their defence.
He has made 50 appearances for the Bundesliga club, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
His development has now attracted interest from several major European clubs.
Sport Bild reports that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid are among the clubs monitoring Quansah. Arsenal already attempted to sign him during the summer, but Leverkusen rejected an offer worth around €65 million.
Real Madrid’s interest is particularly significant because the Spanish club are assessing their defensive options for next summer.
Antonio Rüdiger’s contract situation has created uncertainty around the position, while Real are also preparing for possible changes elsewhere in their defence.
According to the report, Quansah is among the preferred options of Real coach José Mourinho.
The England international’s versatility is another factor behind the interest. Quansah can operate at centre-back and has also been used on the right side of defence, giving interested clubs additional flexibility when planning their squads.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have retained a route back into the player’s future.
When Quansah left Anfield, the deal included a buy-back clause that Liverpool can activate next summer. The option is reported to be worth €70 million and can be exercised until June 15, 2027.
That means Liverpool could potentially bring their former academy player back to the club before deciding whether to keep him or pursue another arrangement.
Quansah’s rapid rise has also continued internationally.
He made his England debut towards the end of last year and has now collected seven senior caps, further increasing his profile outside Germany.
His development at Leverkusen has consequently placed the Bundesliga club in a strong position.
They rejected Arsenal’s summer approach despite the substantial fee on offer, while the arrival of Real Madrid adds another major club to an increasingly crowded list of potential suitors.
For Leverkusen, the challenge will be retaining a defender whose market value has risen considerably since his arrival from Liverpool.
For the clubs monitoring him, the existence of Liverpool’s €70 million buy-back option adds another complication. The Reds could exercise it themselves, potentially putting Quansah back in the Premier League before any subsequent decision over his future.
With Real Madrid now involved, however, Quansah’s next move could extend well beyond England.
