Real Madrid's club doctor visited Federico Valverde at his home on Friday after he required stitches to a head wound sustained during an altercation with teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni at the club's Valdebebas training ground on Thursday.

El Chiringuito reported that Valverde's parents flew in from Uruguay following the incident and were described as "sad and worried" upon seeing their son. The 27-year-old, diagnosed with cranioencephalic trauma, has been ruled out of Sunday's El Clásico at Camp Nou and faces 10 to 14 days of rest under medical protocols.

Reports from Marca and other Spanish outlets confirmed Valverde was briefly rendered unconscious before being wheelchaired to the club's medical centre at Valdebebas and subsequently transferred to the Sanitas La Moraleja hospital, where he received stitches to close a gash on his head.

The incident was the second between the two players in as many days. An argument during Wednesday's training session continued into the dressing room, with teammates forced to separate the pair. Thursday's confrontation was more serious — Valverde is said to have arrived at training refusing to shake Tchouaméni's hand, accusing him of leaking details of the Wednesday altercation to the media. Tchouaméni denied the accusation, and the confrontation escalated.

Real Madrid have opened disciplinary proceedings against both players. Both could face suspension without pay for the remainder of the season, according to sources cited by Managing Madrid.

Valverde issued a lengthy statement on Instagram denying any physical blow was exchanged, saying he "accidentally hit a table" during the argument. He apologised to the club and its supporters.

The incident sits within a broader collapse. Defender Antonio Rüdiger struck left-back Álvaro Carreras in a separate training ground altercation weeks earlier. Midfielder Dani Ceballos was excluded from the squad following a confrontation with head coach Álvaro Arbeloa. French forward Kylian Mbappé drew criticism for travelling to Italy during his injury rehabilitation. More than 33 million signatures have joined a petition calling for Mbappé to be sold.

Real Madrid are eleven points behind Barcelona in La Liga with four games remaining. A defeat at Camp Nou on Sunday hands the Catalan club the title with three games to spare. They face all of that without their captain — and in a dressing room that, by any measure, has never looked more broken.
