Pulisic opened the scoring in the 14th minute, controlling a long pass from Strahinja Pavlović and finishing with his left foot for his first Milan goal in nine months. Adrien Rabiot doubled the lead in the 61st minute after a neat exchange with Gonçalo Ramos, and substitute Diego Moreira made it 3-0 in the 73rd, beating Wladimiro Falcone.
The win, on the night San Siro turned 100, lifted Milan to 11 points and fifth place, two behind the leaders, after draws with Juventus and Lazio and a 2-0 defeat at Benfica on the Europa League debut.
Amorim said, when asked whether the aim was to keep playing this way: “Of course. We want to be dominant in all situations. Only against Juventus were we dominated, then in the first half against Lazio. In the future we will try to be more concrete in the way we control the game.
"But the fluidity of play was better today. But it's only three points and we have to think about the other games.”
Asked how far along the process his team was, he laughed: “You are obsessed with where we are (laughs, editor's note). We are still at the beginning. We have a lot of things to do, but going from being a team that waits for the game to one that presses and tries to manage it takes time.”
Di Francesco said the league position was better than the performance: “From the point of view of the table, it's good. From the point of view of what I see, we have to work a great deal. I still see too many distractions, black-out moments, and especially against Milan you can't afford them.”
Asked whether taking off Nikola Štulić at half-time, for Paco Esteban, was a rejection, and about Tiago Gabriel's fitness, he said: “No, it's a choice. I wanted more attacking of the spaces. The feeling I had is that we gave Milan little trouble.
"And this is where we have to grow, because if we can't hurt a strong team, they score against you. I chose to take off the striker to have a youngster who attacks the depth more, but in the second half we gave a bit more trouble to the opponents. On Tiago you know more than I do. He had this problem here, with the lad who was not at 100% to face the game.”
AC Milan travel to Sassuolo on 11 October, while Lecce host Bologna the same day.
