PSG consider January move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Ibrahim Maza

Bayer Leverkusen

Paris Saint-Germain have made their interest in Ibrahim Maza known to the player’s representatives and are weighing up a move in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sport Germany.

The 20-year-old has become an increasingly prominent figure at Bayer Leverkusen since arriving from Hertha BSC in the summer of 2025. His performances have attracted attention from several leading European clubs, and PSG are the latest to assess whether a deal could be possible.

Sky report that Bayer Leverkusen are also working to secure Maza’s long-term future. His current contract runs until 2030, but the club want to agree an extension before interest from elsewhere develops further. An agreement is not expected imminently, with negotiations likely to take time.

Maza’s start to the current campaign has helped fuel the attention. He has recorded three goals and three assists in 10 appearances, contributing from an attacking midfield role and demonstrating the ability to operate in wider positions.

Leverkusen had already been linked with interest from the Premier League. Manchester City monitored the Algeria international during the summer, while earlier reports also connected him with Arsenal, Manchester United, Atlético Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

PSG’s reported interest is more concrete than simply being among the clubs watching him: Sky say the French champions have communicated their intentions to his camp and are considering a winter approach. That does not, however, mean an agreement has been reached or that Leverkusen are preparing to sell.

The Bundesliga club are keen to keep Maza and view him as a player who can become an important part of the side over the coming years. A new deal would strengthen their position, although the reported negotiations are not yet close to completion.

Maza previously developed at Hertha BSC in Berlin before making the move to Leverkusen. His progress has been rapid, and the growing list of interested clubs puts the German side under pressure to settle his contractual future.

For now, January remains a possibility rather than a confirmed destination. PSG are monitoring the situation closely, but Leverkusen’s priority is to keep a young attacker whose value and profile have risen sharply over the past year.
