Parker: Why I rejected Arsenal

While playing for QPR, Paul Parker says Arsenal were the first club to make a move for him — but he wasn’t convinced.

“Arsenal was the first club I talked to,” Parker told Football Presse. “I just didn’t see a great benefit in me going there. It wasn’t somewhere that grabbed me. In my head, it didn’t really grab me.”

He was happy in London, loyal to QPR, and reluctant to leave the city.

“Rangers were one of the best sides in London,” he said. “I just had this love affair with Queen’s Park Rangers. I wasn’t over‑impressed with the manager at the time, but I still had something in my heart.”

For Parker, the decision wasn’t just about football. It was about comfort, attachment, and timing — and Arsenal didn’t offer enough to make him walk away.
