Martin Ãdegaard's goal secured the points at the Emirates Stadium, but another shutout was equally important for a side that has built its success on defensive solidity.
The victory represented Arsenal's fourth consecutive Premier League clean sheet and their 10th in 17 matches across all competitions. They have conceded only five goals in their opening 10 league fixtures, continuing the defensive strength that helped them record the best defensive figures in the division last season.
Gabriel was delighted with the performance and the result.
"Yes, we are really happy. The performance is the most important, we got the three points, we were very solid at the back. I think we had a good game, so we're really happy to take the three points."
The Brazilian also explained the message delivered by Mikel Arteta at half-time, with Arsenal still searching for the breakthrough against a determined Hull side.
"The message was we needed to keep pushing because we know we will create chances to score. I think the second half we did brilliantly."
Arsenal eventually found the decisive goal through Ãdegaard, but their defensive organisation ensured that Hull could not find a way back into the contest.
Gabriel believes keeping opponents off the scoresheet gives his team a strong platform to win matches, particularly when attacking opportunities are limited.
"We talked a lot about this. If we don't concede goals, we have a big chance to win games. We are really happy to have another clean sheet.
"Like I said, when we have a strong team, a strong defence, we don't concede goals. I think this season, how many is that? Ten clean sheets in the whole competition? This is our standard. We need to keep winning."
The centre-back's comments underline the importance Arsenal place on their defensive record. While Ãdegaard's strike provided the moment that decided the match, the work of Gabriel and his team-mates at the other end ensured that one goal was enough.
With another clean sheet secured, Arsenal have maintained the defensive consistency that has become a defining feature of their campaign.
