Guessand, 25, spent the second half of last season on loan at Palace from Aston Villa and was part of the side that won the Conference League in May, coming off the bench in the final against Rayo Vallecano.
His spell at Villa Park had been underwhelming since his £26 million move from Nice the previous summer, with the forward managing just two goals in 21 appearances across all competitions before his January switch to south London, where he scored his first Premier League goal in a 1-0 win over Wolves.
He also picked up a Europa League winner's medal earlier in the season after featuring for Villa before Unai Emery's side went on to lift that trophy too, and made two substitute appearances for Ivory Coast at this summer's World Cup. Guessand returned to Villa for pre-season after Palace opted not to take up an option to sign him permanently earlier in the summer, but the two clubs are now discussing a fresh season-long loan.
McNeil, meanwhile, has completed his move to Crystal Palace after leaving Everton, becoming the club's third signing of the summer. The 26-year-old winger, who won individual honours at both Burnley and Everton and has been capped by England at Under-21 level, has racked up 21 goals and 33 assists in 248 Premier League appearances.
"I'm really happy to be here, and looking forward to the challenge ahead," McNeil said in his first interview as a Palace player.
"The lads have had some success over the last two seasons, so I'm really looking forward to meeting them and cracking on.
"With winning the FA Cup, and then last season winning the Conference League, and now this season they're in the Europa League… it's something I want to be a part of, so I'm really looking forward to getting started."
He added that he still believes he has more to offer despite a decade in the Premier League.
"I've played a lot of games. I'm still 26 and I want to play a lot more games in the Premier League. Over the years, I've definitely matured within myself and I want to bring my experience to the lads and help the team as best I can. I still think there's a lot more to come from me — and that's why I've come here: because I think Crystal Palace will get the best out of me."
McNeil has an unusual history against his new club, having scored twice to beat Palace while playing for Everton in September 2024. Asked about facing Palace's supporters from the other side, he could not hide his admiration.
"It's funny, I've always loved playing against Palace, especially at Selhurst Park! Even though it's a bit weird, I've enjoyed them scoring because I do enjoy the chant that they've got after they score. It's probably my favourite chant in football, to be honest! I'm really looking forward to playing in front of them."
On where he expects to fit into new head coach Pierre Sage's plans, McNeil was characteristically self-assured.
"I think my left foot's decent! I've got a decent left foot! I try to impact games, and try to score, try to assist. Also, I think hard work as well off the ball — I'm very, very diligent as well. I went and had a conversation with the manager about where he sees me playing and where he sees me fitting in, and it made me feel really good. It's definitely something I wanted to be a part of. I'll just try and fit in the best I can. I know I'll give everything for this club."
