Olise confirmed as Florentino's €150m Galáctico target despite public denial

Real Madrid are preparing a €150m offer for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise — the most expensive transfer in the club's history — despite Florentino Pérez publicly denying the 24-year-old was his intended target during his TV appearance on Horizonte.

The Telegraph, The Guardian, Diario AS and Onda Cero all identified Olise as the player referred to in Pérez's pledge to submit a record offer on Tuesday if he wins Sunday's presidential election. Fabrizio Romano subsequently confirmed: "Pérez's intention is to launch a record club bid of €150m for Michael Olise."

Pérez told Cuatro's Iker Jiménez that the player was not from the Premier League, played from midfield forward, and was a "total Galáctico" comparable to Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaká. Every clue pointed to Olise, despite the public misdirection.

The Frenchman has been one of Europe's most dazzling attacking players since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace for €53m in July 2024. This season he accumulated 22 goals and 31 assists in 53 competitive appearances across all competitions — 53 combined contributions — winning the Bundesliga Player of the Season award and reaching the Champions League semi-finals with the German champions before losing to PSG.

Born in London on December 12, 2001, Olise holds four nationalities — British, French, Nigerian and Algerian — and was pursued by England before choosing France, a decision he described as tied to his bond with his French mother and a childhood dream of representing Les Bleus. He is contracted at Bayern until 2029.

Bayern Munich's position is unambiguous. President Uli Hoeness declared in May: "There is no chance to sell him, not even for €200m." The club declined several Premier League approaches in the second half of the season and is not motivated to negotiate.

Kylian Mbappé, who plays alongside Olise at international level, has lobbied privately for his France team-mate to join him at Real Madrid. Olise is understood to be open to the idea if the move can be made to happen. Whether Pérez can break Bayern's resistance — and whether Sunday's election goes his way — will determine if the offer is ever submitted.

Olise rejected PSG in 2023. He does not carry a boot sponsor and has never given a lengthy media interview in French, despite being France's most exciting attacking player.
