Oliver Glasner worked closely with the Colombia international during his time in charge of Crystal Palace, and it is that relationship that has driven Nottingham Forest's pursuit as talks accelerated over the past few days - momentum that built further following Palace's 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Friday.
Munoz has now been cleared to undergo a medical ahead of completing his switch to the City Ground.
The 30-year-old arrived at Selhurst Park from Belgian club Genk in 2024 and quickly established himself as one of the division's most effective attacking full-backs, contributing to Palace's FA Cup and Conference League triumphs under Glasner last season. He started Palace's opening-day defeat at Everton but was left out of the matchday squad entirely for the loss to City.
With just under two years left on his contract, Palace were open to a sale, having already lined up Anan Khalaili as his likely successor following the Israel international's arrival from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. Munoz leaves having made 109 appearances and scored 11 goals for the club.
Forest's move comes on the same day the club is also finalising Omari Hutchinson's exit to AC Milan. Bringing in a wing-back so familiar with Glasner's system offers an immediate, low-risk fit, and could push existing options such as Nicolo Savona further down the pecking order.
For Palace, the sale continues a summer of significant turnover following last season's historic cup double, with Pierre Sage now tasked with rebuilding around a squad that looks markedly different from the one that lifted silverware in May.
